1. Question

재무상태표에 대해 간단히 설명하고, 어떤 항목들이 있는지 말해 보시오.

What is a balance sheet (IFRS : statement of financial position) and what are the major items on it?

2. Answer

재무상태표는 어떤 기업의 특정 시점에 재무 상태를 나타내는 재무제표로서 자산, 부채, 자본으로 구성되어 있다. 재무상태표는 기업 자금의 운영과 조달을 한 눈에 보여주는데, 재무상태표의 차변은 자산항목으로 자금의 운용상황을, 대변은 부채와 자본 항목으로 자금의 조달 내용을 나타난다.

자산은 크게 당좌자산과 재고자산으로 구분된 유동자산과 투자자산, 유형 자산, 무형 자산 등으로 구성된 비유동자산으로 나눌 수 있다. 부채는 매입채무, 단기차입금 등으로 구성된 유동부채와, 차입금, 충당금 등으로 구성된 비유동부채가 있다. 자본은 자산에서 부채를 차감하여 계산할 수 있으며, 자본금과 자본잉여금, 이익잉여금, 기타 포괄손익누계액, 소수주주지분 등으로 구성되어 있다.

A balance sheet (IFRS: a state of financial position) is a financial statemet that represents a company's financial position at a particular point of time and is consisted of assets, liabilities, and equity. A balacne sheet poriveds information about the sources and utilization of the compnay's capital. Asset items are listed on the debit side, which represents the use of capital, whereas the credit side consists of liabilities and shareholder's equity and shows the sources of capital

Asset can be broekn down into current and non-current assets. Current assets can be classified into quick assets and inventory, while non-current assets consis of fixed, intangible, and investment assets. Similarly, liabilities are broken down into current liabilities such as account payables and short-term borrowings, and non-current liabilities such as loan payables and allowances. Shareholder's equity is arrived at after subtracting the total liability from the total asset, and consists of capital stock, capital surplus, retained earnings, accumulated other comprehensvie income, minority interests, and etc.

3. Summary

1)Balance Sheet is consisted of assets, liabilities, and equity.

2)Asset items are listed on the debit side, whereas the credit side consists of liabilities and shareholder's equity and shows the sources of capital
